NAG CHAMPA LOTION
With Turmeric, Babassu Butter and Avocado Oil. I am not sure whether it is the rich oils and spice that makes this lotion so healing or the fragrance of exotic and earthy peaceful incense that people respond to most.
THE SCENT OF MY NAG CHAMPA LOTION
Nag Champa is the scent of the most famous incense and is the smell pleasantly associated with Hippy Shops, Head Shops, Marijuana peripheral shops and Indian Shops. However, there is no single Nag Champa smell. each family and culture has it's own particular recipe and preference for their Nag Champa blend. that said there are certain common elements. Most Nag Champa scents would include Magnolia (Champaca), Sandalwood, Cedarwood Resin, and maybe include Frangipani, Neroli, Patchouli, myrrh, and a host of others. Because Sandalwood is so expensive I have opted for a 50/50 blend of one 100% pure essential oils including Turmeric, Patchouli, Frankincense, Amarys (Indian Sandalwood) and Birch Tar with a lovely fragrance I've found that people seem to universally respond to. The essential oils I've chosen are grounding and earthy and emotionally healing.
I formulated this lotion to be rich, hydrating but especially non-greasy. My husband hates the feel of greasy lotions so I wanted this one to especially appeal to him. Babassu Butter is great for this, it has all the healing qualities of coconut and shea but is absorbed in faster and is lighter and less greasy. Particularly good as a summer butter.
This oil is rich in plenty of biologically active compounds like tocopherols, tocotrienols, phytosterols, carotenoids, and polyphenols make this oil a rich skin oil with collagen boosting anti-inflammatory impact.
I added both Turmeric powder and turmeric essential oil into this lotion because Curcumin - a major component of Turmeric, has shown real and multiple benefits on the skin that probably work in combination. Clear anti-inflammatory benefits have been proven with topical turmeric which allows for faster healing and regeneration of skin. Turmeric shows promise at encouraging the mechanism of replacing injured cells with healthy cells, it heals skin and may help with Rosacea, acne scars, psoriasis, sun damage and burns according to this review published in the International Journal of DErmatology and Clinical Research. ; https://www.peertechz.com/Dermatology-Clinical-Research/IJDCR-3-120.php
According to scientific papers, Olive Oil is widely believed to exert potent anti-inflammatory activities on the skin. It has also shown antioxidant and wound healing benefits and may even have some benefits to skin cancer. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5796020/
GLYCERIN AND SODIUM LACTATE
These are both great humectants, making skin moist without evaporating. I use both because they each have special qualities. Sodium Lactate is more moisturizing and lighter but goes away more easily. Glycerin is thicker and has longer staying power. Together I think they are perfect.
Great for skin is most closely is like human sebum and is therefore very well liked by skin.
